POD Vader

The 2022 Vassal World Cup has begun! I am so excited this year, not only because I get to play, but also to watch and see who wins, what the meta looks like, and how people fly their lists. An absolutely massive thanks to all involved in making this happen, especially Biggs from over at https://www.blissfullyignorantgaming.com/ for organizing and GiledPallaeon for assisting Biggs.
For those who don't know the tournament begins with the "POD rounds" in which the 4 people in a pod all play each other and the top two players in each pod move on.
My Pod is "POD Vader" this year. In POD Vader we have Formynder, Protomaker (aka Comatose), The ArmoredGinger, and myself.
Formynder is someone I have been playing against since I initially got into Armada. He used to sweep me most every Monday night in late 2019 -> early 2020 before covid got in the way. Playing against him taught me a ton and I would attribute a lot of what I know about competitive Armada to him. I am very excited to play him again, especially in "The People's Cup"
Protomaker, aka Comatose, has been a part of the Armada community for a while now. He, as far as I know, has participated in a load of tournaments such as GenCon, VWC, and others. He and I have had the chance to play each other a handful of times before this VWC and it has always been a blast. We're giving each other list pointers not 4 days before the PODs were announced. I am not excited to fight an Obi-Wan fleet, but I am excited to fight Protomaker again.
TheArmoredGinger is someone, whom previous to this VWC, I have not had the pleasure of meeting. They seem to have been in the Armada Discord server for at least a handful of years. I am excited to see what they bring to the table!

The only person in POD Vader to show up woth a squad list and boy is it mean. 10 Y-Wings is no joke, especially with Plo Koon to get those accuracies in. That means 10 BCC shots with pretty much garunteed accuracy. Scary.

ugh. Protomaker, why you make me play agaisnt Obi?! He is just sooo good at damage reduction. Proximity mines are also going to prove annoying. I think he gets 7 total? On top of those two things, Implacable and a trusty projection experts sidekick are not to be messed with.

I'll be completley honest here. I haven't played against a seperatist fleet in a long time, if not ever. I've heard TF-1726 (Freedombot) is quite the admiral. With B2s and Freedom around not only am I going to be getting raided like crazy, but I'll be taking harder shots because of it. Patriots Fist is also apparently quite good. I am excited to fly against this list and see how it turns out!
All of this to say: I am super hype for these games. If I don't make it out of the PODs I will still be following the VWC closly to see who ends up winning! (The person I'm rooting for knows who they are...) Have fun everyone! As Biggs has been saying "Goodluck! Fly Fast! Win BIG!"
