My VWC List

My VWC List

After many changes and so much waffling, I finally submitted a VWC list 2 hours before the deadline. Previously, I had mentioned my options: Doddona Bombers, Akbar MSU, and Rieekan MSU. I ended up picking Rieekan MSU about a month ago, and from there I went through 5 or 6 iterations of the list before settling on what I submitted:

Name: The Four Horsemen and Their Buddies
Faction: Rebel
Commander: General Rieekan

MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63)
• General Rieekan (34)
• Expert Shield Tech (5)
• Ordnance Experts (4)
• Early Warning System (7)
• External Racks (4)
• Foresight (8)
= 125 Points

MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63)
• Expert Shield Tech (5)
• Ordnance Experts (4)
• External Racks (4)
• Admonition (6)
= 82 Points

MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63)
• Expert Shield Tech (5)
• Ordnance Experts (4)
• External Racks (4)
= 76 Points

Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette (36)
• Cham Syndulla (5)
• External Racks (4)
• Garel's Honor (4)
= 49 Points

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
• Hondo Ohnaka (2)
• Comms Net (2)
= 22 Points

Squadrons:
• Lando Calrissian (23)
• Ketsu Onyo (22)
= 45 Points

Total Points: 399

To be quite honest, I made a last-minute decision to add rax to the Chammerhead and swap Dash for Ketsu to do so. Prior to that, I had Dash, no rax on cham, and 3 points of bid instead of 1.

After playing all the many iterations of this list I've found that, while somewhat abnormal, it doesn't actually care about going first or second. Usually, with MSU, it likes the first player for the last first every turn and not getting a small ship blown to bits before it can act, but with Rieekan the latter is almost a complete non-issue. As far as the last first goes, sure I'd miss it if I was the second player, but I love my objectives. Additionally, I like having the flexibility to A: not care about which player I get and B: stay flexible enough to change how I play depending on the matchup.

I'll break down each individual element.

Rieekan: Honestly this could've been Dodonna, Mothma, Cracken, Leia, or even Agate. This list is functional under all of these admirals. Sure, some are better than others but still functional.

Shrimps:  MC30s are my absolute favorite ships in the game. I love small fast ships, and I love close-range ships. Throw rax and OE on and put them to work. Top it all off with Rieekan to keep them kicking for that little extra.

Hammerhead: Hammerheads often get some hate. They aren't as useful as I wish they'd be by way of being sooo damn easy to kill. I have found a way to love them and that is Cham Syndulla. He is so much fun to play with and even more fun to use successfully. Garel's Honor is also one of my favorite titles in the game.

Flot: Pretty obvious here. Activation padding, and Hondo comms.

Squads: Lando is a somewhat obvious choice here, albeit an expensive one. I usually prefer him as an officer on a shrimp, but with Rieekan in tow, I figured I'd bring some named squad to the game. Lando is one of the, if not the, best squads for rebels. Ketsu was a less obvious choice. She is good, I mainly brought her here just because she is cheaper than Dash, but keeps rogue. Her Ability is also somewhat useful, mostly against full bomber lists. Rogue is pretty crucial in this list because my only squad pushier is the flot and it wants to be passing out tokens.

That's all I really have to say about my list and strategy for now. I can't just give up all my secrets to Formynder now can I?
