Adepticon 2024 Reveals Reactions!
What a weekend! Adepticon feels like Christmas comes early every year. I, unfortunately, was unable to attend this time around, but that did not stop me from watching as many streams as I could over the weekend. There was a ton of content to consume and I did my best to keep up. I will be going much further in-depth when these units and boxes are getting closer to release, so for today I am going to keep it short.
Also, huge congrats to Oliver Dier of That's No Moon for dethroning the eternal champ Luke Cook in the finals! They both played an amazing game and it was a ton of fun to watch. I love seeing Double Bus Swoops win the Worlds title!
Apologies in advance for the quality of these pictures. Screencapping them from a stream tends to lead to poor quality.
Near Future Releases! (May -> July 2024)
Imperial Range Troopers are coming very soon and they look like they will be solid. They are a Support unit! I love the idea of adding more infantry into different slots and I cannot wait to see what other things are done with that design space. Ranger Troopers look to be quite good with both Range 4 and 5 heavy options! They also have the new Advanced Targeting keyword, but I am a bit disappointed to see that it is just Troopers. That means they will pretty much always get the extra aim. They might as well have Target and Independent Aim 1.
Finally, Clone Commandos! Time to shut down the homebrew channel on The Legion Discord. These guys look like they are going to be menaces. We have not seen everything they have to offer yet, but so far they are nasty. The Katarn Armor card is going to be very frustrating to play against. I am excited to take a deeper look at them once we have all of the information.
Bad Batch Babay! I am a huge BB fanboy. I can't wait to get them on the table in both Rebels and Republic. They have a lot of interesting stuff going on which I will look at closely in a future article. The minis are absolutely beautiful and I am very hype to get them on the table.
Future Releases! (Q4 2024)
These guys look so cool. We saw rough renderings of them at Ministrav this year and now that we've seen some painted minis I am hype. I was hoping we would see their unit card or even just an upgrade. I am hoping they are a Support unit like the rest of the recent trooper releases.
What would our Rebel Sleeper Cell buddies be without their friends, the Riot Control Squad? This unit looks incredibly cool and I am very excited to see what they do. Once again, I hope/ have my suspicions, that these guys will be a Support unit. I am curious to see what the Riot Shields do and what the Security Droids do. Hopefully, we see their unit cards soon-ish.
These Crab Droids look very cool. From what they said on stream, it sounds like the box comes with two minis but the unit itself is only one. This is so you can build them in multiple different weapons configs. I could be wrong, but either way, I am curious to see what these little buggers do that's different from Spiders or Dekas.
Another official terrain pack. It looks cool, but if it is priced like the Crashed X-Wing I do not see myself getting it.
Far Future Releases! (Q1 2025->)
Aqua Droids were not on my expected list but I am excited! Apparently, the minis are huge, I mean look at them on those bases. They're apparently bigger and taller than Dark Troopers. I am very excited to see what they bring to the table.
ARF Troopers! I love the design of ARF Troopers and I am very excited at the prospect of another GAR Special Forces unit. They all appear to have DC-15s which makes me believe they might be a long-range unit. But the coolest part about them is...
MORE JEDI! These guys look so badass. They are some form of Heavy or Personael option for ARFs and will also be available to ARC Troopers. I am extremely curious to see how these guys work and what they will do. I wonder if ARFs and ARCs are about to have Force Push access???
These last two images are just two more Hard Plastic Resculpts. We have seen a few of them now both from Ministrav and now Adepticon. They have plans to rework and resculpt all of the soft plastic minis. I will maybe get a few of these but the main takeaway for me is that, if they're dedicated enough to resculpt all of these units, then Legion will probably be getting support for a very long time.
They said that 2025 is going to be a big and busy year for Legion and I cannot wait to see what they have in store for us. I love this game and the community, so seeing it grow makes me very happy.
Thanks for reading!
